The evaluation of Nottingham Forest

Trivela had access to the evaluation made by Nottingham Forest when hiring Igor Jesus. The club has wide observation of the Brazilian market and had several other Brazilian strikers on the radar.

For Forest, Igor Jesus is a player with good physical capacity for the level required by the Premier League. This was even a crucial factor so that interest in promising players like Matheus Nascimento and Marcos Leonardo did not advance.

In addition to the physique, Botafogo's center forward was also placed as a tactically very intelligent player. For the English club, Igor Jesus can be a great facilitator for the wings and midfielders who play next to or behind him, which fits the game model of the team led by Nuno Espírito Santo. The ease of playing both on the back and in transitions was also important for the choice.

The "excellent attitude and work ethic" were other points praised by the club. The way Igor Jesus grew up in important and decisive games also did not go unnoticed.

I mean it's all mumbo jumbo really isn't it, but an authentic 9 is your old fashioned centre forward - Chris Wood being a good example. A false 9 is usually the most central attacking player, but isn't necessarily the most advanced player and may drop deeper to pick the ball up and play in runners from the wings or midfield. Firmino at Liverpool was a good example - he was in between Salah and Mane, but would often be the one providing the assist for them to score.

Based on the very little I’ve seen so far (probably not a good idea), of the 3 Brazilians in the frame, Igor is the one I’ve got the highest hopes for and the most ready to go. He’s got very smart movement in and around the area and looks consistently accurate and technically good with his use of the ball when he has it. He’s adept with his heading (without much height). He’ll need some time to adapt to premier football no doubt but he looks like he’s got the raw materials and intelligence to do it.

Another bonus is, all three are coming off a very successful season with Botafogo - they’ve got a winning mentality.

He's the only one I expect to be with the squad next year - more talk of multiclub in reports today!

I’m out then, if he’s not bringing the socks he’s not fit to wear the shirt

I think the easiest layman way to put it is a false 9 is more like a No10 in the final third but he'll have his back to goal a bit more.

Overheard an argument on the bus earlier, a young couple and she was fuming at her fella. She’d heard him talking about free Brazilians to his mates and knew it wasn’t her as she has a Hollywood…..

I think she was more concerned about the fact that it could have been guys with tits, more than chick with dicks vs her landing strip.

Apologies in advance for any offence. All in the name of humour.

I thought that was a full Brazilian or kojak. But like many, not an expert.

Presumably it's called a Hollywood because, like the films they make these days, it's mostly all gash.

A Hollywood wax is a full removal, as certain film directors require their actresses to be as naked as the day that they were born.

Interesting on the world football phone in last night. Tim Vickery couldn't have been more glowing about Jesus. Much less so about the other two.

Just had a listen, hard not to get excited the way Vickery is hyping him. He said "we shouldn't be pleased he's coming, we should be ecstatic" lol

Time will tell I guess. Blooded in slowly seems to be the opinion, as he will be arriving knackered. Long season completed, plus the club world cup.

I'm also wondering if we have bought Cuiabano and Jair purely as a favour to get Igor Jesus (so could see them going to Oly)

Incorrect. A false nine is Rasmus Hjolund. Or Neil Shitterly.

Just over 57 mmins in if listening on the podcast. Might be slightly different if listening on BBC sounds as they don't edit it.

Yeah, Tim is very enthusiastic about him. He said in recent libertadores qualifier (where Jair got sent off), he put in one of the best centre forward performances he's ever seen.

He doesn't understand the Jair one though; said he always looks off balance.

If Igor arrives with the intention that he operates as a false nine for us next season, should we take that to mean our number ten is almost certainly exiting this summer?
